Understanding Abandoned Checkout
The Problem This Solves
Most customers who open your COD order form never submit it. Without a way to see who they are and what they were buying, that revenue disappears silently. This guide introduces the Abandoned Checkout dashboard — what it tracks, how to read it, and what the numbers tell you about your store’s conversion health.
What Is an Abandoned Session?
An abandoned session is created every time a customer starts filling your order form and then leaves without completing it. The system captures their data in real-time as they type — before any Submit button is clicked — so you have a record of who they were and what they wanted, even if they never finished.
The Four Dashboard Tabs
| Tab | What You Do There |
|---|---|
| Overview | Read your KPI summary and view the sessions trend chart for the current period |
| Sessions | Browse, search, and filter every captured session in a detailed table |
| Recovery Pipeline | Work through your abandoned leads using a Kanban board with 5 recovery stages |
| Settings | Configure what data is captured, how long it is kept, and your privacy preferences |
Reading the Four KPI Cards
Go to the Overview tab. At the top, four cards summarize your store’s recovery situation:
| KPI | What It Measures | What to Watch For |
|---|---|---|
| Total Sessions | All form interactions captured in the current period | A growing number means more top-of-funnel traffic reaching your form |
| Cart Abandonment Rate | Percentage of sessions that were abandoned before submission | Lower is better — a drop after a form change confirms the improvement |
| Avg. Checkout Progress | How far customers got through the form before leaving, on average | A high value means customers are engaged; a low value points to early friction |
| Avg. Session Duration | Average time customers spent on the form before abandoning | Very short means customers bail immediately; longer means they were interested |
Each card displays a trend arrow comparing the current period to the previous 7 days.
Enabling or Pausing Tracking
The tracking toggle is available in two places: the Overview tab header, and Settings > Tracking.
Switch it off temporarily if you are placing a test order and do not want to pollute your data. Switching it off does not delete any existing sessions.
